A magazine covering underrated ideas in science and policy, with 59 HackerNews comments today. Same shape as the other front-page domains on this list: real discussion, a half-percent nudge to its traffic rank, and no evidence yet that separates a good post from a growing publication.

Repository · seen by GitHub, HackerNews

Runs Google's Gemma 4 26B model on any Apple Silicon Mac in about 2 GB of memory, including the 8 GB machines, instead of loading all 14.3 GB. It keeps the shared core and the cache resident and streams only the experts each token actually needs off the SSD. The runtime, installer, command line tool and Mac app are all written in Swift and Metal, built for this one model rather than wrapping MLX or llama.cpp.

How to read this

Method

Every riser shows the earlier and latest reading. Count-based signals also show their percentage change. Rankings show the number of positions climbed from the earlier position to the latest one; a lower position is better.

Funding rounds show disclosed amounts and targets. Company rank movement shows a third-party 90-day momentum signal, current position and observation date. Archived briefings preserve each day’s published signals and follow-ups.
