DesktopFly puts a 3D fruit fly on a macOS desktop and drives it with a live simulation of an actual fly brain. It runs 668 neurons and roughly 19,000 real synaptic connections taken from the FlyWire v783 connectome as a leaky integrate and fire model at 1 kHz, so the behaviour is computed rather than animated. Lunge the cursor at it and the takeoff happens only once the Giant Fiber genuinely spikes through its own synapses, which is why a slow approach is tolerated and a fast one is not.
